Chico Library Shooting, CHICO, CALIFORNIA — A deadly shooting at the Butte County Library in Chico on Monday evening has left two adults dead and a child injured, according to the Chico Police Department. Authorities have confirmed that 18-year-old Bradley Scott Sayer of Chico has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Police say the shooting occurred shortly after 5:12 p.m. local time when dispatchers received multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire and screaming inside the library. Officers responded within minutes and entered the building as the situation unfolded.

According to officials, the suspect allegedly opened fire inside the library while it was open to the public. Emergency responders arrived quickly and secured the scene as panic spread among those inside the facility.

Authorities stated that as officers entered the building, the suspect attempted to flee through the rear exit. Law enforcement personnel positioned behind the library were able to apprehend him without further incident. No exchange of gunfire occurred between police and the suspect.

Two adults were pronounced dead at the scene, while a child sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. Officials have confirmed that the child’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The identities of the victims have not yet been released, pending notification of their families.

Investigators, including local law enforcement and federal agencies, are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Authorities have not yet confirmed a motive, and the investigation remains ongoing as evidence is reviewed and witnesses are interviewed.
